1. Surround yourself with positivity. Be around positive and happy people, have positive conversations and focus on remaining positive! How?
Do your best to avoid and ignore negative conservations, comments or words about your life and others. Read an uplifting book, read a positive quote, write down a positive affirmation. Make being happy and being positive a habit. Remember, you are affected by both your internal and external environment. Why not transform the both of them into a breeding ground for positivity? Gain positivity from the world, and give some to the world.
I personally love reading self-growth books since they’re filled profound wisdom, encouragement and ways to keep yourself positive in your day to day life. One of the best books I’ve had the pleasure of reading was: How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It taught me a lot about remaining positive, expressing gratitude, and learning to gain compassion for other people.
I also love reading quotes and writing affirmations on a daily basis. It’s a great start to the day, and they give me the boost of energy, and positivity — even on the days when things may seem difficult. Why not download an app on your phone or tablet that will let you read quotes or affirmations whenever you get a chance.
2. Express gratitude. Count your blessings and be thankful for what you have! You can start a gratitude journal and write down the things you are grateful for each day before going to bed, or take the time out of your day to simply notice the things you are grateful for. You can express your gratitude through actions, words, and thoughts.
Notice that the happiest people in life are the ones that are grateful and thankful for what they have. You will begin to find yourself becoming more happy, positive and enjoying what life has to offer when you start see the the many opportunities, people, experiences, and lessons you have come across in your life!
Happiness and gratitude go hand in hand. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose!
3. Meditate. Try to meditate or pray daily, even if it’s for 5 or 10 minutes. Give yourself the opportunity to cleanse your mind and spirit from any negativities or stress. Simply enjoy being.
You can meditate in silence, meditate with music, or use guided meditations to help guide you through meditation if you are new. You can easily find meditation music, or a guided meditation with a quick search. If you’d like to give it a go, be sure to check out the post: Practice Being Present: Guided Meditation.
I am slowly transitioning into making meditation a daily habit, and I can feel the difference on the days I meditate and the days I don’t. Meditation has taught me to become conscious and aware of my body, thoughts, and emotions without any judgement. And it will too, allow you to do the same. Learn to enjoy living and being in your own body with every breath and give yourself the opportunity to be.
